Team Collaboration

Context
While at LavaMap, I collaborated with a broker agency to identify challenges brokers faced when working in teams. Many relied on fragmented communication tools and manual tracking, which created inefficiencies and gaps in visibility. To address these issues, we initiated a project to design a team collaboration platform that would streamline workflows, communication, and property management within broker teams.
Design Challenge
  • Enable brokers to collaborate seamlessly on the same client or property.
  • Provide real-time notifications on critical updates (e.g., owner contact, property in contract).
  • Offer team admins visibility into overall progress and team activity.
  • Create flexibility for team admins to manage team size (expand or reduce) depending on workload.
  • Ensure the interface remained intuitive for brokers with varying levels of technical comfort.
Solution Overview
  • Designed a team workspace where members could view and manage shared properties and clients in one place.
  • Implemented real-time notifications for critical events such as outreach, contracts, or updates on building ownership.
  • Developed admin dashboards that allowed managers to monitor progress on properties, track which team member was responsible for which client and adjust team size dynamically based on business needs.
  • Focused on an easy-to-use design language that felt familiar to brokers while introducing modern collaboration features.
Impact
  • Reduced communication gaps by centralizing updates and property activity in one shared space.
  • Improved broker productivity through real-time alerts and clear task ownership.
  • Provided leadership with actionable oversight, enabling smarter decisions around resource allocation.
  • Strengthened LavaMap’s platform value by extending it from an individual productivity tool into a team-driven collaboration hub.
